Skandar Amin Casper Keynes is a British actor
born on 5th September 1991 in London, England. His parents are the
famous writer Randal Keynes, and Zelfa Cecil Hourani. He also has an
older sister called Soumaya.
Skandar has a famous family. Through his father, he is the
great-great-great grandson of the famous scientist Charles Darwin. His
great grandfather Edgar Douglas Adrian, 1st Baron Adrian won the Nobel
Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 1932. His maternal grandfather,
Cecil Fadlo Hourani, is a famous writer of Lebanese descent, and the
brother of Albert Hourani, also a well-known writer and professor.
Skandar started acting professionally at the young age of 12 when he
travelled to Italy to play the part of the young Enzo Ferrari in Ferrari (2003). He later landed
the role of Edmund Pevensie in the film adaptation of C.S Lewis' The Lion, The Witch and The
Wardrobe (2005). He was the last of the Pevensie
children to be cast. After he had been spotted, Skandar attended three
or so auditions in the space of a week before landing the part. He will
appear in the next Chronicles of Narnia movies: Prince Caspian (2008)
and The Voyage of
the Dawn
Treader (2010).
Skandar attended the Anna Scher Theatre School from 2000 to 2005 and
currently attends the all-boys City of London School. As of September
2006, he began Fourth Form (Year Ten) at school, where he will start
the first year of his GCSE studies.
