Name Origin & Pronounciation

Eskandar is a common variant of "Alexander", which was originally of Persian origin and later spread to Arabic, Turkish, and other Eastern languages. It was usually used with slight alterations in pronunciation, such as "Iskander". Today, this name is even found in usage in some parts of Europe. "Skandar" is simply a shortening of the full name, as with "Alex" for Alexander.
